Popular Beach Destinations in North Bali that Offer the Beauty of Sunrise and Swimming Dolphins
Exotic Black Sand Beach
Lovina Beach is one of the famous tourist attractions in North Bali, which offers stunning sunrise views and the opportunity to watch dolphins swimming around the beach. The beach also has quite large waves, perfect for surfing enthusiasts. However, for those who want to be safer, swimming on the beach or simply playing in the water can also be an option.
The uniqueness of Lovina Beach lies in its natural black sand, making it even more interesting to visit. One of the main attractions of Lovina Beach is the journey to the open sea, about 1 kilometer from the shoreline, where visitors can see dolphins. The waters around Lovina are relatively calm, making it suitable for sea trips using fishing boats.
History of Lovina Beach
The history of Lovina is closely tied to the figure of Anak Agung Panji Tisna. In the 1950s, Panji Tisna journeyed to various countries across Europe and Asia, where he was particularly struck by the lifestyle of the people in India. He spent several weeks in Bombay, and the way of life and the conditions of the local population had a profound impact on his vision for the development of public welfare in Buleleng Regency, Bali.
Regarding the use of the name Lovina, there were pros and cons. The name was eventually chosen because it was already internationally recognized. Although many consider “Love” and “Ina” to mean “Love Indonesia”, this meaning does not match Panji Tisna’s original intention. The term “INA” was originally known as an abbreviation for the Indonesian athlete contingent in the 1963 Asian Games.
Lovina Beach was established in 1953, and according to Panji Tisna, the name “Lovina” has a philosophical meaning. “Love” which comes from English means sincere ‘love’, while ‘Ina’ in Balinese means ‘mother’. Therefore, the meaning of “Lovina” is “Mother’s Love” or “Love of Mother Earth”.
Location And Route
Lovina Beach is located in North Bali, precisely about 10 km to the west of Singaraja, in Kalibukbuk Village, Buleleng District. Therefore, this area is often referred to as Kalibukbuk. If you depart from Denpasar, the trip to Lovina can be done via the Bedugul, Singaraja, and then to Lovina route, or via Bedugul, Seririt, and to Lovina. Both routes take about 2 hours, but the route is quite uphill and winding.
