Experience the Beauty of Twin Waterfalls in Gitgit Village with Captivating Natural Scenery
Visiting Nature at Campuhan Waterfall
Campuhan Waterfall is a natural tourist destination that has its own uniqueness, also known as Gitgit Twin Waterfalls because it has two streams of water flowing together between terraced rocks. For nature lovers, you will be mesmerized when visiting here, enjoying the uniqueness of this waterfall, and feeling the atmosphere of the surrounding nature that is still very natural and beautiful.
Gitgit Village is one of the Buleleng Interesting Places to Visit because it offers various tourist attractions, especially waterfalls on the island of Bali. Each waterfall in this area has its own specialty and attraction, making it a magnet for tourists to come visit.
Campuhan Waterfall is one of the famous waterfall attractions in Gitgit Village. The name “Campuhan” comes from the Balinese language, which means mixture. In this context, the mixture refers to the meeting of the two rivers that form the waterfall. This stream is considered sacred by the Balinese, so it is often used for melukat (self-cleansing) rituals that are believed to cleanse the body of negative energy and are loaded with spiritual value. In addition, other rituals such as mecaru are also often held at this location the day before Nyepi celebrations.
Location and Route to Campuhan Waterfall
Campuhan Waterfall is located in Buleleng Regency, precisely in Gitgit Village, Sukasada District. If you start your journey from Bedugul, you will pass through a winding path with up-and-down terrain, crossing Lake Buyan and Tamblingan. The distance is about 16.4 km with a travel time of about 32 minutes. From Ngurah Rai Airport, the trip takes about 2 hours 30 minutes based on Google Maps, with a distance of about 78 km. Meanwhile, if you depart from the center of Denpasar City, the distance is about 65.8 km with an estimated travel time of about 2 hours 3 minutes.
Because the location is in a remote area, visitors must pass through a 400-meter long winding path. In addition, strong stamina is required to descend 300 meters of stairs to the bottom of the ravine where the waterfall is located. Although the journey is quite challenging, your fatigue will be rewarded with stunning views along the way. You can enjoy the natural atmosphere with lush green trees, the soothing chirping of birds, and the surrounding clove, coffee and vanilla plantations. Fresh air without pollution adds to the enjoyment of traveling at this location.
Attractiveness and Uniqueness of Campuhan Waterfall
One of the main uniqueness of Campuhan Waterfall is the two different streams of rushing water that meet and unite as they fall into the pool below. The waterfall has a height of about 20 meters, with a pool depth of up to 10 meters. Bali Touristic recommends against swimming in the pool, given the swift flow of water and the tropical cliffs surrounding it. Nonetheless, you can still enjoy the fresh water from the edge of the pool while admiring the clarity of the waterfall and the beauty of the unspoiled surroundings.
Another uniqueness is seen during the rainy season, when the two streams have different water colors. One stream turns brown due to the rain, while the other remains clear as it comes from a mountain spring. We recommend visiting this location during the dry season, when both streams remain clear, making the view even more stunning.
An additional attraction at this location is the Tarzan Swing activity. By paying around IDR 150,000, visitors can enjoy the experience of hanging from a rope. There are several height levels, namely 3 meters for children and 5 meters for adults. You can swing like Tarzan before jumping into the waterfall pool.
