Getting to Know About Batur Geopark Museum
The Batur Geopark Museum, also known as the Batur Volcano Museum, is an educational place that provides information about national and foreign earth parks. The name of this museum has changed until now to Batur Geopark Museum. Officially opened on April 1, 2016 by the then Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said, the museum features collections covering the three main pillars of geoparks: biodiversity, geodiversity, and cultural diversity. The establishment of this museum is the result of cooperation between the Bangli Regency Regional Development Planning Agency, the Directorate of Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The aim is to provide information to the public about the dangers and benefits that can arise from volcanic activity in Indonesia.
The Batur Geopark Museum consists of two floors. The first floor serves as the main lobby with rooms displaying geological diversity. Here, visitors can see a miniature diorama of Mount and Lake Batur measuring 2.5 x 2 meters. Meanwhile, the second floor presents information on cultural and biological diversity, as well as an auditorium where educational films about volcanoes and geoparks are screened.
As one of the Bangli Interesting Places to Visit, the museum also allows visitors to learn about Mount Batur’s volcanic activity firsthand. In addition, the experience of visiting here is also enriched by the cool atmosphere typical of the mountains in the Kintamani region, making it a memorable educational tourist destination.
Location of Batur Geopark Museum
Batur Geopark Museum is located in Bangli Regency, precisely on Penelokan Street, South Batu, Kintamani District. The location is very strategic because it is close to Mount Batur, only about 8.8 km away with a travel time of about 23 minutes. For visitors coming from the Lake Batur area, the museum can be reached in 21 minutes with a distance of about 8 km.
If you start your trip from Kuta, the travel time is about 2 hours. The museum is easily accessible and is one of the interesting destinations worth visiting when exploring the Kintamani area.
Entrance Price, Facilities, and Operating Hours
- Entrance Ticket Price: Visitors are charged IDR 20,000 for adults and IDR 15,000 for children. This ticket includes access for vehicles.
- Facilities: The museum is equipped with various facilities, such as a large parking area, clean toilets, places of worship, air-conditioned rooms, and other facilities that support visitor comfort.
- Operating Hours: The Batur Geopark Museum is closed on Fridays and public holidays. The operating hours are:
